A Writer's Reflections
Author: Bill Geringswald
If you were led to do something out of the ordinary what would you do? Because of an emotional nudge from something spiritual within me, something that I call God, I was inspired to write based on the horrendous conditions around me.
It wasn't something fantastic, like Saul's blinding revelation before he completely turned around and became a Christian, but I have been overwhelmed with something, something akin to a massive amount of knowledge that I haven't the perception to grasp or understand.
It was a 'movement' inside me. It created an infinite awareness which led me into a higher understanding.
Like many other people living on this planet, I was emotionally distraught by the tragedy of September 11th 2001. As I watched the tumbling of the towers I began to realise the tremendous loss of life that was going on as I watched. It brought something intense to my heart, it made me understand that something had gone really wrong with in the world.
It was only afterwards, after the numbness of shock slowly wore off, that I begin to question what we were doing to others to bring on such vehement hostility.
Until that moment, Americans, me included, believed we were a beacon of light to the rest of the world. We believed we had much of the world’s respect for our democracy, a system that was built on good and high moral values. We also believed we had given hope and direction to other cultures.
In my mind, that belief was arrogant. We are, it seems, at a crossroads in our nation’s evolution - which brings with it, global ramifications.
All of the discomfort, the sadness, the anxiousness we feel now, can be seen as a learning curve. If you look around you, you'll see that there is a growing number of people who are trying to bring an end to the madness that's going on. Rather than bring this about through war and bloodshed, we might be pleasantly surprised that it should, and could, lead to a spiritual awakening.
Through my life I have become strengthened by knowing I am serving as a messenger. A person who can bring about a change of heart, and a different outlook, because of choosing to be inspired by love instead of hate. By choosing to see that God is a spiritual being who works in all of us.
Because of this, I am beginning to understand many things. Things like why attending church left me not wanting to know more about the Bible, but with a yearning, a longing, or a fervent hope that there was a higher understanding of life.
Continually, I ask that this spiritual awakening that I am experiencing, leads me and a multitude of people who are able to use the words and actions that will help achieve goals for a better world.
The message in my book, Infinite Possibilities - a Spiritual Awakening, is a simple one:
To serve as a portal to wake-up human society.
I aim to plant seeds and hope to be able to explain what is going wrong in this world. In doing so, I pray those seeds will grow so that they can help repair the rift and, in the end, give us strength for what the changes that are about to come. After all, the possibilities are endless...
